MAKE IT // hand drawn cup

Sometimes you need to just take a bit of time out from a manic day and draw on a mug. So that is exactly what I did. As you know, we are moving, so I have been packing and living in a city of boxes. Which drives me crazy. And in domino fashion, the husband too.

As I was packing I found these plain mugs that I bought months ago with the grand intention of drawing on.  Like usual, everything else got in the way. Not today. I pulled the notional middle finger at packing, and sat down to draw the crap out of that mug.

This is what you will need //

A plain mug

A porcelaine pen, I picked mine up at an emporium. But craft stores have them too.

Pencil

First, make sure that mug is nice and clean so that the pen will stick. Then draw out in a piece of paper what you want on the mug, that way you can muck up the paper, not the mug.  I drew inspiration form this tattoo with a line from city and colour’s song  ‘As much as I ever could’. But you can do whatever you choose. Obviously.

I then penciled in general outlines on the mug, the pencil comes of easy, but helps you keep proportion, somewhat . Finally, get that porcelain pen and go for it. Once that is done let is dry for 24 hours, then bake at 180 C, or whatever your specific pen tells you to.

Then have a cuppa with your bangin’ new mug.

Until next time.

FLORA

Flowers are my weakness. Whether is be from the garden or side of the road, a cheap bunch from the supermarket or dairy, or something I have poured over at my florists. I am a sucker for them, and never without them in the house.

I have bought that love into a tradition when I style homes.  On the completion of an area, I head to a local florist and assemble a bunch that reflets both client and room. This was for a home yesterday.

Chrysanthemums, Stock, Freesias and Pieris temple bells, which is one of my favourites. The vase is from Freedom Furniture.

Happy Friday, Go buy some flowers.

Until next time.x

FOUND // Drawers

If you had realised already I am a major sucker for a bit of foraging, hunting and finding. I love a good op shop, thrift store, garage or yard sale. I get a bit giddy when I find a little diamond in the rough. It is something the husband and I do together, and equally love. Okay, Maybe me a little more than him. Either way, it is a favourite pass time of ours.

So here we start a new little feature. Found. I will post about our latests buys, finds and acquisitions.

These are the latest. Two huge drawer sets. We ventured to a second hand store looking for drawer handles and came back with these. Solid wood, Brass handles and label holders. Sheesh. Beautiful. I nearly died, I swear. I wouldn’t let Nathan leave their side while I went to talk to the store-man about delivery and such ( I mean our Sven is a beast, But not beastly enough for these puppies ) So $200 later ( I know. Steal ) , they were ours.

Welcome to the family, Let’s see what we can find to hang out with you.

Until next time.
