LEAN CLOSET // LEAN HOME

A few months back I stumbled upon what has fast become one of my favourite blogs.

  Wide Eyed Legless.

At the time Madelynn was taking part of Cuyana’s Lean Closet Movement. A movement dedicated to smaller and higher quality wardrobes. To culling the noise which areo the extra items, the items you never wear but never get rid of. A movement that frees you from the hour long episode of standing in front of  the wardrobe staring aimlessly, resulting in wearing the same outfit you always do and complaining to your significant other that ” I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR! ”

Needless to say this resonated with me on many levels.
I had that overflowing wardrobe filled with items that I hated, the poor quality, the rush buys and I was finally done with it. So four hours, two trash bags and a trip to the Sallies later I was back staring at my wardrobe. I still had nothing to wear. And so began the challenge. To fill my wardrobe with well made, classic and timeless pieces, from quality fabrics that resonate with my personal style and not the trends of the current season.
And then it crossed my mind, Why just my wardrobe? Why not my home too?
So here we are. It won’t be a quick or easy journey, but the result will be worth it.
My journey to a lean closet and a lean home.

Until next time

RAGS // 20weeks

Dress I made // Kimono I made // Necklace was a gift // Ring from Bahagia Store // REDD by MAC on my lips.

I cannot quite believe we are at 20 weeks.

Somedays I feel like I just found out I was pregnant, and others feel like I have been pregnant F.O.R.E.V.E.R ( Usually the days that I could go for a drink )

I sometimes catch myself in the mirror and have to take a second look. Yes, Yes that is me with the giant belly. I am also learning to embrace dresses. I hardly ever wore dresses before the bump. I was an oversized tee and jeans girl, But now that makes me look like a mammoth.

Either way, we are 20weeks, and it is amazing.

PLUUUUUUS WE FIND OUT IF IT’S A BOY OR GIRL SOON!!!!!!!
What do you think?

Until next time.

Things, they are a changing.

With a new season in life, a new wardrobe has emerged. For those who don’t know, I got the nick name Blackbird by the colour of my wardrobe. Black, head to toe. My favourite. I was all about the textures, not colour.

Now, with the change of season and the impending arrival of The Kid. Changes have moved into the wardrobe. And not a gradual transition, but a swift punch to the face kind of change. I simply put on black on day and said, ” Nope. Not right. ” And in the space of a week I had packed up my black and completely changed to an array of white and grey.

A selection from thrift stores, Stored clothes, cheaper basics and a few sewing afternoons left the bank account relatively happy and me in my new found etherealness.

So there you go. Saying yes to White and Bright. Thanks to The Kid.

And Happy 16weeks little one!

Until next time.
