LIFE

SICK DAY

The last few days have been sick. Not in the 90’s pop culture kind of way, but in the I cannot get out of bed kind of way. Today I ventured back out into the world. And came home with a ‘get-well-soon’ present for myself. They are the best kind, cause they are always exactly what I want. Today it was a Hyacinth, a bulbous delicious smelling plant, that I potted in my very large beaker that has been waiting for such a time as this.  Hooray for for self get well presents.

Until next time.

COMMUNION #4

Beer & Cheese Matching – hosted by Libby & Matt

Really, what could be more perfect.
With the combination of these two, there is no way you can go wrong.
Matt makes a killer home brew beer. From scratch. What a pro. And Libby. Well Libby is a domestic goddess. Serving local and international beer and cheese that has been stunningly matched, all with our very own tasting notes ( I know. Tasting notes. So bloody awesome ) We then moved onto a deliciously comforting pumpkin soup and crusty bread. And topped it all off with a beautiful vanilla bean creme brulee. Heaven.

Thanks Matt & Libby. It was brilliant.

Bring on Number #5.

Until next time

I am rather partial to a good party.

A while ago a few of my good friends and I decided that we didn’t do enough dinner parties. From there Communion was born. A round robyn of dinner parties. Every time hosted by one of us. To be able to go as over the top of low key as you want. And it was to be called Communion.

This was NO.3, My turn.

Although the others had gone for more beautifully themed and cultural, I couldn’t think of what would fit. And being obsessed with zines like Kinfolk and Cereal. What could I do but do something, even if a little poorly in comparison, along the lines of that.

So in my so-called kitchen ( that consists of a small convection oven and a two plate electric hob. I know. I know. ) I conjured up a menu of caramelised onion, blue cheese and thyme tarts, an array of cheeses moving into homemade gnocchi with zesty basil verde and baby beat salad ending in a delicious affogato with the help of Coffee Supreme and home made praline. It surmises to say we were all rather plump and sleepy by the end of the night.

And because I am so very partial, everyone left with a favour of a plant in a large agee jar.
Sheesh it was fun.

Roll on NO.4.

Until next time.
