Hi, my name is Gemma Adams, my husband, pup Frankie and I live in the sunny Hawkes bay, nestled within a nirvana of cider joints, hip wineries and art deco idolatry. We’re currently renovating our first home, room by damned room.
Mind you, I can’t complain. For the last ten years, we’ve been legitimate gypsies. I met my husband in 2007 while travelling in the states. He was a mustached, tattooed drummer, it was love at first sight, and we’ve been living in suitcases ever since.
In 2011, we finally unpacked in Auckland. The Gypsy gods revolted. Since then, we’ve moved eight times, landing in the Hawkes Bay ‘burbs with a house on stilts and a can of whitewash.
In May of 2014, baby Coco Darling entered our lives. You can read more about our journey with our little fighter and Trisomy 18 here.
THE BLOG:
In 2013, my husband and I put our little boutique Hunter Gatherer on hiatus. The plan was to hibernate, throw back some mojitos and wax lyrical about Helvetica, but the truth is, I can’t sit still for longer than two seconds.
Blackbird is my creative accountability. Sure, as far as blogs go, she’s a wee yearling, but one year on, this little project is like a bull out of the gate. I’m grateful to be doing what I love as a fulltime job, and even happier to be able to share my adventures with you.
